Mark 2:27

Why was the Sabbath given to man?

1. Because working men need to rest
   • Physical rest
     Even the land was to rest from tilling every seven years. Lev 25
   • Emotional rest
   • Spiritual rest

What does that rest do for us? It helps us to remember!

2. Because busy men need to remember
   • The source of their strength is God
   • The source of their salvation is God
   • The source of their sanity is God

What does that remembering do for us? It helps us to reverence

3. Because holy men need to reverence (Worship)
   • By a lively fellowship of praise
   • By a thoughtful practice of reflection
   • By loving gifts of works

   2. Jesus was teaching
   3. Jesus was healing
2. The Burden vs. 36
   1. The Church needs to "see" the world
   2. The Church needs to be gripped with loving concern for the multitude
3. The Need vs. 37
   1. Harvest is Plenteous
   2. Laborers are few
4. The Command vs. 38
   1. Pray to the Lord of the Harvest
   2. Pray that the Lord will send forth laborers into the harvest
